Hwy 55 Burgers and Shakes in Harrisburg

My husband and I have been to this restaurant in several different states. This was the most dirty, trashy, and unhelpful one of them all. The servers were preoccupied with their phones, their conversations and eating. The bathroom and the floors were filthy. We were the only people in there. The only compensation was that the guys on the grill stayed busy and the food was good. Service and cleanliness matters though, so we won't be back.

This place needs a bath from top to bottom! Staff was so friendly. Burgers were ok, nothing to brag about.

Service was decent. Waitress was nice for the most part. The food was good BUT DON'T order a "regular" size burger if you expect to get an actual burger....we had a group of 5 people and ordered 4 burgers and the waitress asked us if we wanted regular or Andy size....had I thought the regular would have been literally thin as paper and no where near the size of the bun, I would've gone with the Andy size for $2 more. There was more fixings on the bun than burger and it's no exaggeration. The regular burger is super thin and tiny and for $7.... at least it came with fries or tots.... If we do go back we will definitely get the bigger size. Had my phone not been dead I would have taken a picture of the burger...we got a good laugh out of it though....the chilli bun was good😂

This Hwy 55 is clean. If you decided not to go to a Hwy 55 because you went to the one in University area and it was dirty, try this one. Food was great, wait staff nice and attentive, plenty of parking (some right out the front door).

Loved it! The burgers were very good, the wait time for my order was minimal. I would suggest to ask for 'Andy Size' if ordering a large burger/sandwich otherwise they'll make a small size instead. The staff was very helpful, quickly rung up my order. Plus, they are open Sundays!

I have found that at this Harrisburg location, I am unable to get answer when I try to call in a to-go order. 🤷🏼‍♀️ This time I decided to just keep calling until I arrived, because it was after 8pm and I really just needed to grab my food quick. I arrived with my phone in my hand, and of course, still no answer. I tell the teen girl at the register that had been trying to al in for 20 min, to which she replied, "OK. You want to order now?" No explanation, or apology. I look around, and see one couple in a booth and no other customers. No cooks in sight. I place an order and the cooks appear. Honestly, i am pleased that the food is ready in just a few minutes, and when I eat it at home a few minutes later, it is really good. Rate a 3 stars for this location because food is good but very frustrated at the service.

There is a vintage vibe for sure. I'm not into that but I guess that's ok. I'm not into that - at all. I'm not into having dinner in a place that is in the °60s inside either. We took ours to go. Real strawberries in the shakes - love that. The food we got was decent. Enough so that we would consider take out again.

Great shakes and burgers! Custard is outstanding. Outdoor seating available. Calories are clearly listed. No healthy options, but that's not why you'd come here.

Best burgers around, and the shakes are amazingly tasty. Definitely better when you dine in rather than take out, but still delicious regardless.

If you are in the Harrisburg area, and are looking for a great burger and fries, or something similar, this is a great way to get your lunch or if you like, dinner. They also have fantastic custard, so if you like a good dessert as well, I would certainly recommend for the entire family. Service help are friendly, and you can find coupons online if needed. I would highly recommend going to Highway 55 if you're looking for that old-school burger and fries

Every time I come to this location I always get poor service. Either something is not cooked right or the service is horrible. Waitress didn't know what an item was on the menu. Instead of asking us or someone in the back, they made the wrong thing. They tried charging us for a more expensive item when the item they gave us was wrong in the first place. I tried this place three times. Third time is my limit. I will not be going back again.

We ordered through door dash...nothing about the order was correct...very disappointed as we've never encountered an issue. Shameful and and as they were closing as I called to complain, I didn't feel there was any sincerity in apology offered.Having your mind set on a meal only to have the order wrong in every aspect was ridiculous and it will be some time before we return and that's a shame as we really liked the food.

I like Hwy 55 but this particular location was not the best for quality of food. The fries were overcooked and something wasn't right with the gravy.

First off I wouldn’t even give it one star. The customer service was horrible. We had a new waiter who had only been there for a day to help us with no one assisting him in placing the order, needless to say the order was wrong. When asked to correct the mistake the cooks were mad that they had to redo the order. One cook was throwing the food around and slamming things and the other cook was giving the manager on duty grief and trying to argue with her when she asked a question on how long was our order going to take because we had been there a hour for a to go order. It was obviously towards me and my family because we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. Something needs to happen ASAP at this location because our visit to this Hwy 55 was a disaster

First impression, employees stand at front talking while you wait to be seated. Fried pickles and tots were too crunchy. They had a old oil taste. And buns for burgers were wet on top. Hwy 55 restaurants are good, but Harrisburg NC does not make the top of the list.

Thought this would be fun. It was a disappointment. The decor was cool, 50s style, but there was no music. There were only 2 customers in the restaurant and it took the waitress almost 10 minutes to come see us. She took our order then left the restaurant. 10 minutes later, another waitress came and asked us if we’d Ike anything to drink. The burgers were over cooked, but the gravy fries weren’t bad.

I went here specifically to see how I could hack their menu to make it vegetarian friendly, this is what happened: My favorite plate from Hwy55 when I was a meat eater was their shrimp Po'boy. So I looked at that and decided to make it veg. They have very good grilled veggies so I got the onions, peppers, and mushrooms. I asked them to add jalapenos to the grill with the veggies. After that I got the hoagie topped with lettuce, tomato, mayo and they added my grilled veggies to it. Finish that with po'boy sauce and voila, veggie po'boy!

Had to ask 2 people on the wait staff for drinks and the grease was so dirty the fries and tater tots came out brown and were not edible. When we mentioned it to the staff they said "oh it's our oil". Yes it is and needs to he changed.

Very disappointed in the packing of the food. Hot dog had all toppings on one side due to being placed upright and nearthe bottom of the bag. Brownie sundae was delicious, hence the 3 stars. Employees were a little spacey but nice. Bathroom needs to be updated. Chicken sandwich was dry, burger was OK.

Fast service and food was good. Not outstanding but for the price it was ok. We are local so we will be stopping in for an occasional burger/ fries meal. Menuwas simple and food was fresh. Not the cleanest place we eat at but not dirty as others say it is. Give it a try.

Unfortunately, they were down to one cook and one waitress when I went in the yesterday. First, the waitress rung my order wrong and charged me for a drink when I specifically mentioned to her that I needed a refill on my WATER. She acted as if she didn't know she had charged me more for the drink. I asked for the receipt and pointed it out to her so she would give me a refund. Then I got home to eat my shrimp burger and after 1 bite, I noticed that the shrimp was overcooked and the amount was less than normal for an Andy's sized shrimp burger. The fries were also a little too done for my liking. I've never had a bad experience here before but this was a total waste of money.

I ordered through doordash. I ordered 2 sandwiches a chili cheese fries, an order of tots, an orangeade and a sierra mist. Well first they were out of fries and had to change my order to tots, which is fine. When i received my food, I only got 1 sandwich and 2 regular tots. My drinks didn't have any syrup and literally just tasted like seltzer water. I immediately contacted my doordasher and he said he would pick my second sandwich if I call it in. Well, I called it in only telling them about the sandwich because the other things were small issues to me. They said they put the sandwich in there and accused the doordasher of stealing my sandwich. I was told the manager would call me tomorrow, but after that accusation of someone who was willing to go back to get me my sandwich, I expect I won't get a call. DONT ORDER FROM HERE. RUDE AND ZERO QUALITY CONTROL.

This was our first time at Hwy 55 Burgers. We've heard alot about how good it is and we just happened to pass one on our way to an event. We decided to go there for an early dinner on our way home. 4:00 seems to be a good time to go because we beat the dinner rush. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. It looked like a 50's diner. We got burgers. There are 2 sizes, the Lil size and the Andy's size. The three of us all got the Lil size which was really enough for us. We like to get different sides and then split them so we can sample more of what a place has to offer so I got fries, my husband got onion rings and my daughter got the tots. All were really good. My daughter and I wanted a little dessert so we each got a little Sunday. Very yummy and just the right size. We definitely want to go back again.

Food was great! I don't know if they were short staffed on the Sunday that we went but the place was not as clean as I feel it should have been. The service was slow but I will definitely give them another chance just based on the quality of the food. Hope to be able to upgrade this review once I go back

This was my family and I first trip to this location. We always went to the one over by Ikea. But needless to say the service, food and professionalism were all top-notch. It was my daughters first trip to NC and she enjoyed herself which makes me happy. We will definitely be back to visit and enjoy the wonderful food again soon. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making us feel welcome.

I was flattered by the customer service Colby and Zaid welcomed me with. Their food was great and I’d be happy to come back for more while they’re on shift.

Very disappointed.... We decided to give this place one more chance after a disastrous first visit. Unfortunately, it was worse this time around. I ordered an all american burger with bacon and pepper jack cheese, no pickles or mustard. My burger came with no bacon, american cheese and had pickles and mustard. I also ordered a drink which was not delivered. She delivered a drink to everyone at the table but me. My mother ordered an all american burger with bacon and pepper jack cheese. The burger came with no bacon, American cheese and a moldy bun. The waitress seemed confused as to why a moldy bun is not acceptable. They replaced the burger. The burgers were both plain with very little taste. Next, we ordered dessert. I ordered a one scoop on a cone and got it in a cup. We will not be visiting the restaurant again, since they didn’t get even one item that I ordered correct.

My family (including grandchildren) decided to shop at Jungle Jim's instead of eating first. By the time we got done, it was late and the children were starving. We went next door to Highway 55 hoping we could get in even though they were closing in 25 minutes. We were told we could come right on in and that the time would not be a problem. Our waitress was so kind and answered the many questions my 9 year old grandson had about the decor. The food was good too and served promptly! I really appreciated their kindness and good service considering how late it was. Great job Highway 55!

Food was good. Service was horrible. I have eaten here a dozen time over the years and I keep hoping it will get better but it just doesn't.

Really disappointed in this location. I used to come here often but haven’t been in a while so thought I’d switch it up and order dinner. I called multiple times and the phone just rang and rang and rang. One of the times I called someone picked up the phone but never said anything and then hung up. My friend also called twice and still no one picked up. We came to the conclusion that maybe they closed early on Sunday’s, so on our way to pick something else up we rode by to check it out. Shockingly, they were open so needless to say we were pretty disappointed. I understand being busy but there were only two tables occupied when we rode by. The lack of customer service was really upsetting.

Went into highway 55 and ordered my food. Waiter comes back and tells me they are out of chicken. Okay so I order a double cheese burger and fries. Fries taste like they are aged from the 50’s but the burger was good. My milkshake tasted like flamingo piss. Similar in color too. I hope I don’t have to come to highway 55 for as long as I live.
